Patient database
Register patients, search their history, and manage visits and orders.
The patient database is the heart of your daily workflow. Every person who walks in gets a record here, and every visit, test order, and result is tied back to it — so a patient's full history is always one search away.
Registering a patient
Open Patients and choose to add a new patient. Capture their core details:
- Name, age (or date of birth), and gender — these drive automatic reference-range selection.
- Contact number and email — used for report delivery.
- Referring doctor — links the visit to a referred doctor for commission tracking.
- Collection center, if the sample came through a partner.
Why age and gender matter
Labgen automatically picks the correct reference range for each test parameter based on the patient's age bracket and gender. A haemoglobin value is interpreted differently for an adult man, an adult woman, and a child — Labgen handles that for you.
Ordering tests
Add one or more tests from your catalogue to a patient's visit. Each test carries its own parameters, units, and reference groups. Once ordered, the test is ready to receive results — either typed in manually or sent automatically from a connected analyzer.
Saving the registration puts every ordered test onto the Report Status queue at the Registration station, with its tube barcode already generated. From there the board is where the work is tracked and pushed forward, one test at a time.
Finding a patient
Search by name, lab number, or phone number. Opening a patient shows their complete timeline: past visits, the tests in each, and the reports produced — useful for spotting trends and for returning-patient workflows.
Editing and deleting
Patient details can be corrected at any time. Deleting a patient who has verified or finalized results requires a reason — Labgen records what was removed in the audit trail before erasing it, so nothing disappears silently.
Deletions are audited
When you delete a patient with authorized results, the action is logged in the Data logger. This protects your lab and keeps you aligned with accreditation expectations.
