Review, authorize, and flag results that need urgent attention.
Before a report reaches a patient, it should be reviewed. Labgen separates result entry from authorization, and surfaces dangerously abnormal values so they're never missed.
Verify and finalize
Results move through clear states. A result is entered, then verified by a qualified staff member, then finalized for release. Keeping these steps distinct gives you a checkpoint and a clear record of who authorized what.
Critical (panic) values
Some results are medically urgent — a critically low platelet count, for example. Labgen flags these as critical values so your team can act and notify the treating doctor promptly.
Acknowledge critical alerts
Critical values should be acknowledged once acted upon. Acknowledgement rate and response time are tracked as quality indicators in MIS & reporting.
Amending authorized results
If you must change a result after it has been verified or finalized, Labgen requires a reason and logs the amendment. This is the post-authorization audit trail accreditation bodies expect — see the Data logger.
